Wolverhampton Shortlisted for Big Lottery Competition!

Wednesfield North residents may like to know, that Wolverhampton’s made a bid for funding from the BIG Lottery’s ‘Ageing Better’ programme, which is aimed at addressing loneliness and isolation among older people.
Wolverhampton is one of 100 areas, which were invited to submit an expression of interest for this programme early last year. The city has now got through to the shortlist stage (of 32 areas) and a partnership, led by Age UK Wolverhampton, has been formed to develop a strategy for tackling loneliness and isolation.

The Lottery will choose 15-20 of the best strategies submitted and each of the successful areas will receive between £3 and £6 million to implement their strategy locally.

The Partnership needs to involve older people in identifying the key causes of loneliness and isolation in Wolverhampton and the potential solutions."

I have contacted Ashmore Park Community Association and asked them to help in any way that they can, with this bid. Wednesfield North as pointed out by Age UK , has a large community of senior citizens. I will keep residents up dated as the information becomes clear.
