New Pavilion A Step Closer!

Following the fire at the Pavilion in the middle of the recreation ground Ashmore Park. It has been estimated that insurance compensation will total around £50,000. The City Council recognises that a straight replacement on the fire damaged site would not be the best move.
Councillor Phil bateman said "There is now some work taking place that is attempting to model a building that will combine the needs of BMX, Wednesfield Aces Cycle Speedway and the local football teams.

Both Councillor Dave Jones and I are delighted at this response, as it mirrors a call we made this summer for a new modern facility on Ashmore Park that would enhance both sporting aspects and the individuals who are playing sport.

Financial resources are currently being sought for the funding of this multi-facet building.

During the International Cycle Speedway event held at the Wednesfield Aces track this summer, I spoke with an Official from the British Cycling Federation, he was certainly enthusiastic in wanting to explore opportunities for joint ventures. I am encouraged that the City Council are now talking with British Cycling Federation.

There are other initiatives that are also being followed up. All in all there is progress being made, and I am sure that this news will be welcomed by all that play sport or use Ashmore Park for Leisure activities. I will keep everyone informed via this web site."
