World War1 - 100 Years Anniversary!

This year commemorates the 100 years since the start of the First World War.

I will of course be taking part in services during this 100 year Anniversary and I will be remembering the contribution that my Grandfather Joseph Bateman, made to his Country during this period of Britain’s history, as I remember the fallen from Wednesfield and Wolverhampton. I also want to link you today, with events and history, that you may feel you have no connection with 100 years on.

My family were lucky in that my Grandfather survived this war, and the earlier Boer war that he also served his Country in.

I will be placing articles on my family's connection with the First World War throughout this year.

I hope that you the reader will enjoy reading the information, and if you are connected to my family through family membership. I do hope you will collect the information, store it and pass it on through your own family members!

My Grandfather Joe, was a lucky man, he served through-out the Boer War and the later First World War. He had a full life after these two big wars emigrating to Canada and bringing up a large family. He lived when so many young men of his age died. But the commemoration of this war is also about those that survived, as much about those that so tragically died.
