Ofsted Call Wednesfield High 'Inadequate'.

The results of the Ofsted team visit to Wednesfield High is now out. The overall assessment is not good! Many will suspect that there is some politics at play here, and that forcing the School towards the Academy road is more than likely the plan.
The Head Teacher rightly draws attention to the plus points, coming out of the report.

Behaviour and safety within the school is seen to be very good Ofsted suggests that Mathematics was deemed to be inadequate and as such the school was judged to be inadequate.
The Head teachers says that on Friday of the same week they were “delighted and ecstatic to find out that our fabulous Head Boy, Liam Bradney had gained a full scholarship to study at Carleton College in America. One of the top universities in America, Liam has achieved a full scholarship for his degree amounting to a staggering $240,000 over four years and he has achieved that amazing accolade. He is the only student from a comprehensive school in the West Midlands to achieve this place and I am sure you can guess what is coming….. He is going to study Mathematics!

He is an amazingly talented young man who has succeeded in gaining a place at one of the world’s leading universities. He is from Wednesfield High School, lives in Wednesfield and is going to study Mathematics.

He could not have achieved that place without the amazing teaching and support he has had during his seven years from his Mathematics teachers, especially Mrs Satterthwaite-Shuttleworth.”

As you can imagine the whole inspection kind of leaves you thinking it may be more about politics than anything else, The Secretary of State for Education Mr Gove is pushing for schools like Wednesfield High to become Academies…does this fact colour judgement? I wonder?

Take a look at the Wednesfield High School own web site http://www.wednesfieldhigh.co.uk/ and see what they are saying about the Inspection.

Not a good day for the School.
