Fox Numbers A Concern for Residents in Coppice Farm

I have received correspondence from a resident on Coppice Farm Estate who is concerned about the numbers of Foxes on this estate.
The resident informs me that “They are in massive numbers on the Coppice Farm Estate, this being the area between the traffic lights on Coppice Farm Way, off the Lichfield Rd.

This, in my opinion has become a health and safety issue. They are becoming very aggresive, and can be seen any time from 3 pm onwards.

Both myself and my son have been chased up the parkland by foxes, possibly protecting their young. This coupled with the the excrement they leave behind in front of our houses around the Green. This has all got out of hand and has become very unpleasant.”

My constituent wants the City Council to tackle this problem.

It is not an easy issue to do however. Foxes are not classed as vermin. Clearly there are foxes in the locality as I have seen them myself. I live near the area and I do see them regularly.

The resident goes onto say that there are people who are feeding them. It goes without saying that the foxes shouldn’t be fed regularly, doing so will only reduce their territory and make it easier for them to stop hunting their own food.

I am in contact with the City Council with regard to this issue, but in the meantime I would advise residents to always steer clear from foxes, they are after all wild animals, and do not let children interact with them, no matter how cute they look!
