'Save The Ashmore Inn' - Campaign Get's Underway!

The Ashmore Inn is a good Public House holding many family memories for thousands of Ashmore Parkers who have grown up with the Pub at the centre of their estate.
It is a land mark and a big asset for the community.

It is a really valued community asset here on Ashmore Park. It is very much at the heart of the community, it adds value to our sporting opportunities - where it supports and homes a senior football team, and nine children’s football teams. These are lads aged between 7 and 13.

It has one of the regions strongest Pigeon Clubs, Indoor sports are represented by Darts teams on Tuesday and Friday’s. Plus Domino’s, and a thriving Fishing Club meets in the premises.

Add to that an OAP luncheon club, regular Saturday and Sunday entertainment, and you get a feel for The Ashmore Inn’s importance here in our Wednesfield community.

But the good work doesn’t end there! The PH supports numerous charities through-out the year through its customers.

Here is a little of the support they have given to charities this year alone. National charity SENSE, the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team, Walsall Deaf Society, Compton Hospice, Help for Heroes, and the PDSA!

As the rumours sweep the Estate, the community is already rallying in support for the The Ashmore Inn as news break’s that owners Marston’s have sold the PH onto a property development company.

The Closure of the PH will do nothing for our community, nor the good work that such drastic action would wreak.

I am buoyed by the community spirit being shown towards the PH as the information slowly trickles out about Marston’s actions.
I think my community is up for a fight on this proposal! I am keen therefore to declare my support for the campaign to save The Ashmore Inn and for the role it plays in our community.

I call upon Marston’s as an important company within our own City of Wolverhampton to make clear the decision and plans they have made with regard to this particular Public House.

Our community deserves to know from a City business that also paints itself as a Community Business, what the full implications of its decisions are, and within what timescale they are hoping to deliver in!
