Ancient Flower Meadow Transported to Ashmore Park!

Residents of Kitchen Lane, Snape Road,Fane Road Simmonds Road, Rogers Close-
If you have been wondering why layers of hay were being rolled onto the green wedge that us older residents call the Red Bank here on Ashmore Park! Then the answer lies here. The Birmingham & Black Country Wildlife Trust have been working with the City Council to re create a proper old time meadow!

The hay has been mowed from an ancient wild flower meadow and transported to Ashmore Park, it has been laid out here on this important green wedge and the seed heads it carries with the right weather conditions should drop their seed onto our own 'Red Bank'!

This will then germinate next year and we should see new flowers and orchids sprout. This in turn will attract butterfly's and insects and birds what with the woodlands that have also been created by the city Council here we will have the most attractive site to enjoy with our families and friends.

As well as scene that used to be seen as common place before the advent of modern farming. I am delighted that this partnership has chosen this site as I believe it is a fantastic project that will encourage nature to thrive.
