Canal- Were Winning! SINC Confirmed!

I have received this good news in my quest to improve and manage the Essington & Wyrley Canal in Wednesfield.

I have received this good news in my quest to improve and manage the Essington & Wyrley Canal in Wednesfield. This is really GOOD NEWS! "In response to your query regarding Local Nature Reserve (LNR) status for the Wyrley and Essington Canal, it is for the Canal & River Trust, as landowners, to make an application to Natural England for LNR status. The Council has recently completed ecological surveys of the canals in Wolverhampton and as a result the Wyrley and Essington Canal will be designated as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). This opens the way for LNR designation of the canal, should the Canal & River Trust decide that this is appropriate. I have been in contact with the Canal & River Trust (see below), and they have confirmed that they are looking into the potential for LNR status. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything further." First I am delighted that it has a SINC status! That is brilliant. Second is the fact that LNR status is a step nearer! Wednesfield we are on the verge of success!( The picture is one of Derrick Sparkes)
