Latest News On Community Hub for Ashmore Park

I spoke in the ‘full Council’ meeting last night on the debate around Community Hubs, I said “Mr Mayor is the Chair aware that the development of a community hub on Ashmore Park for Wednesfield North is not as universally unpopular as some may suggest?
Are you fully aware that there is a strong body of opinion that a new hub development will provide much needed investment in our community facilities, providing still for a professional library service, an improved and enlarged Community Centre and a much needed youth services.
I ask you to ensure that Ashmore Park gets a community hub, and the new investment that goes with it.
As to regards the Library moving these proposals will move the current library just ‘a dawdle’ away from its present site.”
This intervention is in line with the consistent arguments I have made for the new investment since I published my first comments back in the early summer of this year.
I want residents in Wednesfield North to be very much aware that there is no truth in the statements that Ashmore Park library is underthreat. There will still be a Library service on Ashmore Park if the Community Hubs proposals are supported, and it will be located between the Health Centre and Corpus Christi Church, which is just a short walk from its current position.
