One Stop Shop Heading for Ashmore Park- What is your view.?

The ‘top shops’ on Ashmore Park - corner of Higgs Road and Griffith Drive has had the major store there closed for quite a long period. ( This information on the new application was first published by WV11)
Now there are plans to reopen the store again, and the applicants are a local firm based in Brownhills called ‘One Stop’.This company is applying for a drinks licence to enable the store to sell early and late alcohol which will clearly anchor other lines of goods.

The application going to the City Council Licensing Committee is for a licence to sell alcohol from 6.00 am through to 23.00- Monday to Sunday.

Now it is certain that this application is going to attract those residents that would agree to the application, those that are concerned about the length of time the selling of alcohol covers, and of course those residents that object to any selling of alcohol.

If you have a view on any one of those three policy areas or you have another alternative view please make your views either in support or in an objection known. It will be all the more potent if you make your individual view directly from you to the Licensing Committee of Wolverhampton City Council.

Also please let me know your views, as it is useful to understand everyone’s feeling on this matter.

I for my part feel that the store - if it bought back to life as a convenience store - will plug an important retail gap in what is currently Ashmore Parks shopping offer.

Make no mistake people living at the top end of the estate have been finding it difficult to buy those little items that run out suddenly - without travelling miles further afield to find them. I like the idea of the store opening - especially with a large chain owning the retail rights and behind a sales policy that recognises the law and the restrictions that may be applicable to trading.

Hopefully there will not be the sort of bad experiences some residents were subject to and that were prevalent with the last owners of the shop.

Here is a little more about the company behind the application- taken direct from their web site.
