Is Wolverhampton Homes Vision Statement Worth Anything?

If you went into a contractor’s yard and you asked to buy a service from them you would expect for your money a date and time when they would turn up. Well that would be my expectation any way!
But that doesn’t appear to be the case with the City Council’s arm’s length business Wolverhampton Homes.
Let me explain. One of my constituents has had a tree crash down during the winter onto a boundary fence that separates his garden from a public right of way. My constituent immediately contacted WH asking for the fence to be replaced. The tree was removed the next day so a gold star there! Despite three contacts and three different job numbers awarded in January and February. He is still waiting for the job to be done.
Now here is the rub when I contacted WH and raised these issues I was told he would be prioritised!
When I asked for the date and time for his visit from their contractors, they told me that they could not provide that level of detail!
So my poor constituent is left wondering and waiting, day after day, if it is to be this day that the prioritised work will be addressed!
Now in this day and age when man walks on the moon, photographs are taken from space, you would expect that a hi tech cutting edge company like WH could do a bit better than that vague description when the contractors will turn up?!
Especially when I took a look at their Vision Statement which is -“Putting the customer first, working together, being progressive and inspirational and embracing learning.”
Now somebody is having a laugh here? Since when has WH put “the customer first” when dealing with the case that I have outlined? Working together? WH has not been able to give a date when their contractor will turn up and deal with the problem. So where are they being “progressive and inspirational” certainly their systems that they are operating do not point to any of these vision statements!
So why have a vision statement if you cannot deliver on it for your customers?
I am now monitoring how long my constituent has to wait for service and of course I will ensure those that are interested will see the results via this web site.
