Wednesfield Labour Party Concerned About Police Role.

Wednesfield North & South Labour Party met last night Friday 27th January 2012, and amongst the matters that was discussed were the issues surrounding the police.
The Ward Parties are very much behind the announced candidacy of Bob Jones for Crime & Police Commissioner. Second we continued to discuss the issues surrounding Wednesfield Police Station.

Members were concerned that the station has no longer a 'custody suite'. It is clear from the debate that we are having that Wednesfield Labour Party is concerned about the role the station plays in the active fight against crime.

Concern is still being expressed about the number of solicitors that are 'housed' in the police station. Members felt that it was becoming an administrative centre not an active police station serving the Wednesfield community.

The restriction of public access as recently announced was still felt to be a damaging move by the police. Even though the Chief Constable had spoken directly with me. Members still felt that the action will damage the relationship between the Police and the community.
