Wednesfield Remembers!

The Remembrance Day activities in Wednesfield were very successful yesterday.
The Remembrance Day activities in Wednesfield were very successful yesterday. A very large procession of veterans and cadets, marched with support from brownies, guides, The local Member of Parliament, Councillor’s and voluntary bodies, from the Royal British Legion to the Church.

The processions size joining an already full congregation made for a crowded church, and a large and respectful gathering in the Garden of Remembrance later at 11.00am, leading to one of the biggest Remembrance Sunday events of its kind in Wednesfield in the last 10 years.

The new replacement memorial plaques were rededicated by the Vicar, following the originals theft in the summer. With five new fallen Wednesfield soldiers names added to the new plaques, I know it was with a sense of pride that the Village paid homage to the memory of Britain’s heroes of the First and Second World War’s, and the regional war’s that have taken place.

May I thank everyone that was involved in yesterday’s services, especially Wednesfield Police, the Royal British Legion, the Church and the City Council for their service to our community.

It was their partnership yesterday that allowed such a moving and poignant day to take place without hitch. Having attended this service every year for decades I felt very proud of the community and the organisations taking part. It is Wednesfield coming together at its very best.
