Fence Repair Gathers Support of City Council

Following a walk that Mary and I undertook about a week ago.
We found that the fence on the canal bridge where Broad Lane South and Broad Lane North joins was broken.

It is an important fence as it protects the pedestrian from falling down the bank into the Wyrley and Essington canal that the bridge spans. I took the time to write to Wolverhampton City Council Highway department as I felt that the damage could pose a threat to pedestrians using the footway.

I am pleased to inform that Wolverhampton City Council through I J Law the Highway Operational Services Manager,Street Scene Services has responded saying " I can confirm the matter has been investigated by the highway technician and photos of the damaged fence taken.

I believe the responsibility for the fence rest's with British Waterways, and have emailed them the photos, along with a request for the necessary remedial works to be undertaken before it becomes a safety issue for highway users."

Hopefully the Waterways management will act and repair the fence before any further damage is done.
