Who Gave the Mayoress Milk Tray?

The Wolverhampton Civic Sunday was a very good service. Led by the Band of the West Midlands Fire Brigade the Mayor Councillor Bert Turner
was cheerful.
The service held at St Peter's Church, had a real star cast.

Besides the Rector of Wolverhampton those saying prayers were drawn from the Catholic, Methodist and Protestant faiths.

Also playing a major part in the service was the Catholic Archbishop of Birmingham. Also the Bishop of Wolverhampton!

It was without doubt an ecumenical star studded occasion and prayers were said for ‘good governance’. Very topical when you consider that on the news stands across the city the Sunday papers were headlining the latest scandal in the business and political worlds.

The News of the World had fallen on its sword as ‘good governance’ at that particular organisation was not very evident, if you kind of follow my thoughts!

The Mayoress whose birthday it was yesterday was presented with a box of chocolates by the Rector!

Well done the Royal British Legion and the airmen of Cosford who joined with the band for a march through the city centre where the Mayor and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant took the salute in St Peter's Gardens.
