Labour Win Bilston North Bye Election!

Councillor Linda Leach-Labour's Winner!

What a great result for Labour in Wolverhampton last night as the Liberal Democrat Party collapsed and the Conservative support melted away!
Bilston North- LAB GAIN! Lab: 1292, Tory: 460, BNP: 131 UKIP: 55. Liberal Democrats 52!
The Conservative and Liberal Democrat Coalition together and the Labour Party now have 30 Councillors each in Wolverhampton. Dramatic as it is The Mayor now holds the casting vote at Full Council!

This result places Labour as the biggest Party in Wolverhampton, and it will alter the political balance of the City Council.

This in turn could in theory alter the make-up of the West Midland County wide joint boards, including the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority.

The biggest losers of the night were the Liberal Democrats who in May of this year at the Local Elections polled 600 votes in Bilston North. Last night they were wiped away and were left to trail in last with the BNP and even UKIP in front of them.

Just 52 hardened Liberal Democrat supporters turning out to vote! If ever there was evidence that the disastrous coalition of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrat Parties was unpopular with Liberal Democrat voters, this was it!

Well done Bilston North Labour Party on a really famous and massive victory.
