Local Police Admit Concern on Drugs

Wednesfield North Labour Party today welcomed the news from West Midlands Police that they are currently liaising with the City Council in relation to the Garage Site at Whiston Avenue Ashmore Park Wednesfield.

In a public statement made today the Wednesfield North Labour Party said "We welcome this information that the local police force stationed at Wednesfield Police Station are currently liaising with the Council in relation to the issue of un-used garage sites being used for drug taking, anti-social behaviour and vandalism in general."

The Police have also informed Wednesfield North Labour Party that they are "regularly patrolling Garage sites in an attempt to catch and deter offenders." The Labour Party added "We are particularly pleased to note that the police have informed us that they patrol the area with their partner agencies to help address these issues with a multi-agency approach."

Wednesfield North Labour Party went onto say that it is pleased to note this approach, and the local forces concern as expressed to this Party "about the obvious health risks to our young people" We are particularly pleased that they are to "raise this particular issue at our next Zero Tasking meeting with a view to getting a more permanent solution to this problem. This meeting is held on a monthly basis and includes all relevant partner agencies."

Labour Party candidates Rita Potter and Derek Wollam who have both been involved with addressing the issue since they were called to act by residents just seven days ago said " In a very short time Wednesfield North Labour Party has done all it can to mobilise a Council Clean up. Informing the Police, Wolverhampton City Council, and Wolverhampton Homes as well as the local school following the residents of Whiston Avenue making us aware of the concerns they had. We are very pleased to be able to work in partnership with local residents on issues such as these."
