Travellers Cause Upset for Residents On Ashmore Park

The local community are looking to Wolverhampton City Council to move swiftly and remove the rubbish that Travellers have left on the public open space on Kitchen Lane Ashmore Park after they moved onto the site yesterday at 15.00.

Phil Bateman Secretary of Wednesfield North Labour Party said today " Since the first caravan rolled onto the site yesterday residents have been contacting me asking for help.

I have had to explain that I am no longer a Councillor for Wednesfield North, I have however emailed the City Council this morning asking them to act swiftly before more damage is done to this public open space.

There were multiple mobile homes on the site last night and despite the fact that this Group appear to have used the site for just one night, moving on early this morning. They have still left rubbish in the form of old cans ,household material, and the remains of tree felling strewn across the site.

Residents are concerned that the rubbish that they have left behind will continue to fester unless it is removed quickly.

Residents have also expressed their surprise that the site's security measures were so quickly breached. They are looking to the Council to beef up the perimeter of the public open space so that this group do not return later."
