A New Charge On History?

I am hearing rumours that the Conservative Administration on Wolverhampton City Council are working on plans to charge for the use of Archive Services?

Perhaps there is someone in the know who can confirm or deny that this is about to happen.

Archive services have become increasingly popular for families wishing to discover their roots, and delve into family history.

We have been lucky here in the City that we have been well served by a dedicated band of Officers, and of course a City Council that in the past has recognised the importance of preserving and delivering the history of the City to citizens keen to uncover their own rich past.

If this rumour is proven to be true what a kick in the teeth this will be. Charging to delve into our history as well as taxing our property will not be well received!
