Mayor & Angela Giles Make Opening day a Success!

As Chair of Governors of the Ashmore Park Nursery School and the Park's Children's Centre. I want to sing the praises of the facility and all the staff! It was a great day today , one that will be remembered for some time.
Ashmore Park Nursery and The Park's Children's Centre, Griffiths Drive, Ashmore Park, Wednesfield, Wolverhampton,today at 11.00am welcomed the Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Christine Mills who officially opened both the refurbished Nursery School and the new Children's Centre .

The Mayor met special guest former Headteacher Angela Giles, the senior management team and Governors and then proceed to perform a 'ribbon cutting ' ceremony in front of staff, parents, children and invited guests.

The £1m Children's Centre has been designed and constructed to provide a range of services to the community of Wednesfield- This is a much wider reach than just Ashmore Park. The Children's Centre remit is to spread service across Wednesfield, and encourage the parents in a population density of around 25,000 to use this newly created community asset.

Sue Lacey Headteacher said " Ashmore Park Nursery School has always had a special place at the heart of the local community. It has provided excellent education and care for children and their families for nearly 40 years. The addition of the new Children's Centre on this site will allow us to enhance the service we offer the children and families locally and throughout the wider Wednesfield area."

Debbie Harris Children's Centre Manager added " The combined facility of Nursery School and Children's Centre provides the very best nursery education and at the same time offers support parents with young families on a range of issues.

The activities include 'Under 1's Group aimed at parents , sharing experiences and helping them gain advice about health issues,vaccinations, child development and communication.

Stay'n' play; Aimed at Children 0-5years and their parents, designed to improve speech and language, and providing advice on safety in the home, and healthy life styles.

Also there are Childminding support group's, Ante natal and and post natural support groups, Baby Massage and a programme to engage fathers! We are enthusiastic in delivering the services to children and their families"


The two facilities are combined and constructed on the same site. They are Administered and Managed by the Board of Governors of Ashmore Park Nursery.

Angela Giles is the Ashmore Park Nursery School former Headteacher.Mrs Giles spent 21 at the the school retiring from the role in July 2005.
