Costly to the environment, costly to the Counciltaxpayer

The controversial lightweight open top bags that the City Council distributed for the collection of waste cardboard and plastic, have been an environmental nuisance here in Wednesfield.
It was clear that the very nature of our weather would make their use difficult. If the present Conservative administration had taken some thought about the service they were to introduce, we would not today be faced with the expense of replacing the bags with some other container, nor the environmental mess they cause when blustery weather happens to coincide with garbage collection.

Many residents of Wolverhampton will not be quite so laid back that more expense is now justified by the City administration, to replace and improve their current scheme.

The excuse that the Councillor in charge of the programme made that the 'bags' were only an interim and were always going to be replaced, will be seen as just that....an excuse. This policy is a good one I do not deny that. But the delivery and management of this scheme has been costly to the environment, and costly now to Counciltax payers who will have to pay for a replacement receptacle to replace the failed bags.
