Invited and Accepted!

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers

I have been invited to join The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, Midlands Campaign Board which I have accepted.

Charitable Fund Raising for good causes was brought home to me following the year I spent as Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton. During that year my wife and I raised almost £30,000 for charity. This sum was split between three charities.Divine Onkar a Wolverhampton based charity designed to alleviate suffering of children in India, Everyman the national testicular cancer charity based in London, and the Children's Ward of New Cross Hospital, all whom received over £9,000 each.

Local good causes continue to feature in our everyday lives and personal donations to charities like the Children's Society continue toplay a part in our household.

I am now looking forward to joining the Midland's Campaign Board in helping raise awareness and funds for this charity in what is a most difficult financial climate for all charities.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is the largest provider of comprehensive carers' support services in the UK. A carer is someone who looks after a family member, relative or friend unpaid. Often carers care for more than 50 hours a week, 365 days a year. Through its unique network of 133 independently managed Carers' Centres, young carers services and interactive websites www.carers.org, and www.youngcarers.net the Trust provides quality information, advice and support services to almost 310,000 carers including 15,500 young carers. No one supports more carers across the UK than we do, with your help we can continue to support more.
