S/S Lachinedoc

The S/S Lachinedoc was a laker sailing on Canada's Great Lakes and Coastal waters.
In 1936 my father Thomas Henry Bateman signed up on this Laker, which was on a journey from Buffalo to Sydney Cape Breton. He signed using his mothers maiden name of Blower.
We do not know why he did this but he used the same tactic when signing for the Canadian Militia! Where he spent 5 years as a bombadier and using Thomas Henry Blower as his name!
