Crime Increases by 29%!

There is growing concern in Wednesfield about crime. The latest statistics that the Police have released via their web site shows that crime increased in Ashmore Park by 29% when at the same time period across the West Midlands as a whole crime reduced by 10%!
Phil Bateman Secretary Wednesfield North Labour Party said "There seems a real large disparity in the way that crime is performing parts of Wednesfield.

The statistics indicate that there is 62 crimes for every 1,000 Wednesfield residents and that statistic does not read good!

Now these statistics cover a period from April 07 through until March 08.

I will be awaiting with great interest any newer statistics, as I know that there is real concern in the Broad Lane North and Wyvern Park Estates with regard to what seems to be an increase in home burglary.

My advice to residents is to keep their eyes and ears peeled and do as much as they can to inform the police of any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

The Local Authority and West Midlands Police in partnership should be doing more to reduce crime in this part of the City. My fear is that Wolverhampton budget cuts may interfere with anti crime measures which will not be at all popular.

I think that Wednesfield elected representatives should break their silence on crime and spell out what their intentions are to deal with this important local issue."
