"This time they are telling residents that they are campaigning for safer roads using Linthouse Lane as an example.

Now I am all for the success of that particular scheme and the fact that it has reduced the accident rate by nearly 50% . But lets be in no doubt who championed the scheme and who implemented its development! Back in 2004 myself and Councillor Dave Jones were leading on this scheme.

On my web site back in September 2004, local residents joined with me in discussing how we could implement meaningful reform of Linthouse Lane. Indeed the 'discussion pages' on my web site recorded the comments that residents made to me as to how they felt the Lane should be treated to make it safer.

To me it is just a tad dishonest to try and give the impression during an election that their team is the reason for the success of this particular scheme."
