Police Respond On Broad Lane North

Following the Injury caused in Broad Lane North when a child was struck by a car and reported on, on this site.
Wednesfield Police have moved quickly and have informed me that they have indeed been monitoring the speed in Broad Lane North. Inspector Jon Turley states that he requested pro laser speed checks which the traffic unit carried out on the 19th August.

They also spent about 1 and a half hours on Broad Lane North with the radar gun and had a couple of hits of excess speed and the result was that fixed penalty tickets were issued to the drivers involved.

I now understand that the police will once again give thought to another targeted event. The Police are also requesting the City Council Highways Department lay ' wires' on the Road. This will measure the speeds of vehicles using the Road over a 24 hr period.

This will then give the police an indication of whether the issue is a real one or peoples perception of speed as the Road is narrow! Now that is the statement that the police have made to me over the last few hours. I hope readers will note the comments.
