Crime In The Ward

Councillor Phil Bateman (Labour) Wednesfield North said "There are of course a lot of issues that are of importance here in Wednesfield North. Crime and law and order are top of the issues that people want to talk to me about. "
Whilst Wednesfield North is a great place to live, it does have its problems based around the sort of 'low level crime' that other communities have. I have recently held top level talks with Wednesfield's senior police officer Superintendent Sally Bourner and Inspector Jon Turley along with the Community Safety Partnership Chairman Richard Carr on the way forward for our community.

I think it is this sort of sensible action that you as electors want from your Councillors. Wednesfield police inform me that they are going to continue to operate the priorities identified as being:
Anti-social behaviour in Bucknall Road
Anti-social behaviour around the ‘top shops’ Griffiths Drive
The police over the last twelve months have also tackled anti-social behaviour in and around Snape Road. To tackle this, the Ashmore Park Neighbourhood Policing Team increased patrols in the area and identified offending youths in addition to this officers have worked with trading standards to enforce legislation regarding the sale of alcohol to under 18s

Random damage to vehicles. To tackle this, the Ashmore Park Neighbourhood Policing Team installed temporary mobile CCTV cameras known as Domehawks in hotspot areas. Since their arrival on the estate, reports of this type of crime has reduced
Anti-social behaviour in and around various alleyways. To tackle this, the Ashmore Park Neighbourhood Policing Team have worked with the city council to organise lighting to be improved, to have trees and shrubs pruned and installed temporary mobile CCTV cameras known as Domehawks in hotspot areas
There is of course a number of ways that you as an individual living in the area can contribute to the anti crime agenda being operated by the police the number one approach is to attend the Ashmore Park Police Liaison Meeting which is held regularly at the Ashmore Park Community Centre."
