Kimberley and Kelly Bateman

A Nice Little Press Cutting from Years Back!

Kimberley Bateman recently wrote to me from Canada, she came across my web site whilst surfing. I have attached the email I received from her...Kimberley is the daughter of David and Judy Bateman. David is my first cousin, my dad was Davids dad's brother...get's complicated are you following!!
Kimberley writes "I do have memories of my grandparents. I loved visiting their farm house in Coe Hill, near Peterborough, Ontario. I also remember when they lived inToronto.

I remember that my granddad was a wonderful artist. He was so
creative. He had paintings that he had done all over the house, plus there
was another of him of when he was a young lad that someone else had
painted.

I loved that one, plus the one he painted of my grandma. One of the last pieces he did before his passing (about a year before) was a mural that he had drawn and painted on the wall in the living room in the farm house. It was a landscape of a beautiful castle from England that he had remembered. I could spend hours just looking at the detail. Although, I was only 10 years old the last time I had ever seen it, I remember it dearly.

I do remember that grandma had real bad arthritis in her legs and she was
always in a great deal of pain, but she never minded me sitting on her lap
while she sang' Oh Suzanna' to me.

I don't have any photographs of my grandparents, but I do know that my
parents have a box of them at their home. Plus, I do know that my sister
has a beautiful photograph of grandma hanging on her wall in her home.

I would love to prepare something for you for the website. Maybe my parents
could be involved as well?
