Police- Wednesfield North

Councillor Phil Bateman said "People living in Wednesfield North will be pleased to know that there is to be additions to the Police team that are looking after the area."
He added " Joining the current Police Constables and the Specials that we see from time to time will be two Police Support Officers. This will be a very welcome addition to the law and order team that currently looks after this important part of Wednesfield.

At the recent meeting of the local Police Liaison Committee Wednesfield Police reported that there had been around 70 crimes in the last two and half months. A major part of the crime figures was the break ins taking place with regard to caravans! The police were also very pleased that their detection record was around 40% against a force average of approx 24%. They attributed this success to the good intelligence that they received from the community.

There was however a very disturbing tale of a high performance car that was 'targeted and a late night break in to force the keys from the owners went badly wrong when they first entered the wrong dwelling and when they forcibly gained entry to the correct dwelling threatened the owners and damaged a second car. They failed ultimately in stealing their target when it cut out yards down Kitchen Lane.

The police are looking for two persons in connection with this vicious but bungled attempt to steal this vehicle. Anyone with information should give the police a ring, or if you want to remain anonymous...contact crimestoppers on 0800555111.

Whilst on vehicle crime the police informed the meeting that one offender had been arrested and charged for two offences."
