Coffee Morning Was Really Great-Charities Win

There is without doubt something that is great in this city!

There is without doubt something that is great in this city!

This morning we had our last coffee morning for the Mayor''s General Charities Fund. It was great morning and the public came in real good numbers. I gave a little chat about the city silver, and our year of Office.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Walsall also attended and I spoke of our year and the work that we had undertaken. I also gave out two of the Mayor''s Certificates of Excellence, one to the organisation that is behind the sporting development of Wolverhampton''s athletes who have a disability. The other to Peter Holmes who has given 40 years to supporting swimming in Wolverhampton and sport in general.

The certificates were well received in front of a big crowd in the Parlour.

We also were very touched by the individual support from Wolverhampton''s citizens. We received two £ 50 cheques, £10 cheque a £25 chequefrom Wednesfield Aces, and a cheque from Chubb Safe Company for over £295. Plus a £100 cheque from a colleague Councillor. Irene Dodd of Ashmore Park Choir re-known for her monologues was in fine voice and entertained the room with an "Ode To A Man" basically taking the mick out of me! It went down well thank you Irene.

All of this money was raised for the Mayor''s General Charities Fund!

All the donors said that we had done an excellent job of representing the City and they wanted to thank us by making donations to our charities. Both Mary and I have been knocked out by the way Wulfrunians have responded to us.

So with just a week to go, if any other organisation or individual would like to make a charitable contribution to the Mayor''s General Charities Fund address your cheques to the Mayor''s Parlour and thank you!

We also raised over £300 from the tombola that the office staff were running.

It was a great morning and the sun shone well!
