CAMEO Club of Wolverhampton

The Mayoress of the City of Wolverhampton, Mary Bateman recently took up an invitation made by Cameo Ladies, (Mrs Jane Emery sitting on her left on the photo), President.
Cameo Ladies was launched in 1994. The group was originally part of the Women's Gas Federation Nationwide, which disbanded due to lack of funding by British Gas.

The Wolverhampton group decided to go it alone and self fund. They continue to flourish and meet on the first Monday of each month at the Park Hall Hotel, Goldthorn Park, Wolverhampton at 7.45pm.

A hard working committee ensure members enjoy a varied program, including talks, demonstrations, theatre visits and outings.

Each year a charity is chosen from raffles or events and a cheque is given to the society concerned. The 2006 charity is the Osteoporosis Society.

CAMEO represents "Come And Meet Each Other". New members are always welcome. For further information contact 01902 844836.

Mayoress Mary Bateman said " I thoroughly enjoyed the evening with the Cameo Ladies they are a lovely group of women that are keen to enjoy mixing and love taking part in Wolverhampton Life.

Organising events and taking groups to theatres, all are important activities. I felt instantly at ease with my hosts, and I do hope the Club continues to grow and go from strength to strength. They are a valuable part of the City of Wolverhampton and I was very pleased to have had the pleasure of meeting with them during my year as Mayoress."
