Welcome Lord Bilston!

On Friday 21st the Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton, Councillor Phil Bateman MBE will be receiving Lord Bilston of Bilston, the former Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton South East Mr Denis Turner at 18.45 in the Mayor's Parlour .

Councillor Bateman said " I am so pleased to invite my friend to the Mayor's Parlour as he will be handing over his 'Letters Patent' that he received from Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth on his elevation to the House of Lords for display under loan to the city. This is a great day for Wolverhampton and Lord Turner is keen that this wonderful historic document is viewed by as many citizens as possible.

It is likely that up to a 1,000 people a year will see this wonderful and rarely seen document. I am thrilled that the Lord Bilston has loaned the article in this my year of office."
