A Long Day

Councillor Phil Bateman Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton said "Today we have had a rather nice day, first of all visiting Perry Hall School here in Wednesfield, and tonight we attended a performance of ''Crazy for You'' at the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton.
This morning we visited Perry Hall School in Wednesfield where we toured the school with the Head Teacher Mr Mison. We were struck by the very colourful wall and ceiling decorations all part of the school work, and the sheer size of the school. There are around 430 children in the school, and there was a very good feel about the place.

We attended assembly and the Mayoress and I engage the children in talk about the City and the Mayoralty and its significance.

In the evening we attend the production of ''Crazy For You'' by Wolverhampton Musical Comedy Company it was performed at the Grand Theatre and there was a very good sized audience for the opening night.

One of the delights of being Mayor is seeing the talented individuals that are on the stage here in the city .

The performance was very enjoyable even though there was some first nights slips! I was amused by the leading man Matt Elson, whose wig came off! but I was also impressed by the way he captured the audience by making a virtue of the error! Matt played Bobby and he is quite a vibrant talent. Both Mary and I have seen him perform previously with another city production company... Shout!

I was also taken by Kimberley Robinson who played the part of Tess...she not only was very graceful on the stage, but she was also quite stunning!

I can understand why the character Bela Zangler wanted to keep kissing her neck.....!

We arrived home around 11.00 pm. In between our engagements both Mary and I attended work... it has been a long day but an enjoyable one."
