The Welsh side of the Bateman Family History has been further researched and June and Terry Whitehouse who live in Australia, have provided some further insight into the Roberts family.As you can see the Roberts were originally from North Wales. It appears that Ruth Roberts was not born in Glamorgan, and it was her father that was Welsh.

We now know that John Roberts & Martha (nee Boddis) moved , with most of their family,to Yorkshire sometime after 1861 (Ruth was by then married to Thomas Bateman so remained in Wolverhampton)
On the 1881 census I found John Roberts and Martha living
at 9 Ct 1 Albert Street, Kimberworth York
