Gone to the dog's!

Last night the Mayoralty went to the dogs! It was a really great night starting when Mary and I were invited with all the civic guest's, to pile through the new turnstiles at Monmore Green Stadium which officially opened this new facility.

132 guests ( we lost a party) thoroughly enjoyed themselves as the greyhounds raced away chasing the hare! I must admit to losing every race bar one! The aptly named Councillor Phil Bateman Stakes.

I am reliably informed that this was the first time this particular charity engagement has attracted so much mayoral support. The mayor of Shrewsbury,Walsall, Solihull,Dudley,with the Chairman of Lichfield and South Staffordshire District Council with their mayoresses and consorts were all in attendance!

The crowds were truly enchanted with all the bling that was on show!

Whilst at this very early hour I am unsure of the total we have raised for the mayor's general charities fund, I can tell you that the raffle raised the princely sum of £350.

The full fund raising figure will become available in a few days and of course I will share that with you when I am informed of the amount. In the meantime can I thank everyone who attended.
