Civic Service In St Thomas's Wednesfield

On Sunday 12th March Councillor Phil Bateman MBE Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton will be attending a Civic Service at St Thomas's Church High Street Wednesfield. The Mayoress will also be in attendance and the party will process from the Wednesfield Toc 'H' building to the Church.
The Mayor said " I do hope that we will have a real good turn out for this event. It is an important date for me, and I am hopeful that a number of local Councillors will also find time to join me in the Church.

It is not an everyday occurrence to have a Civic Service here in the heart of Wednesfield.

I would like to thank the Reverend John Points of St Thomas's, along with my Mayoral staff for arranging this service. Of course Reverend Points also happens to be my Chaplain for the year so the arrangements must have been smooth!

I just hope that the people of Wednesfield and Wolverhampton will now pack the Church for what is an unusual, but important service for me as Mayor, being part of a religious service whilst acting as Mayor, in the Church which both the Mayoress and I recognise as being our own place of worship.

St Thomas's is a fine church, indeed Mary and I got married in the Church as long back as 8th September 1973!."
