Alleygates for Townson Road

There has been a push on now for quite some time to provide an Alleygate in Townson Road Ashmore Park and help protect some of the residents from some unsavoury going on's.

Councillor Phil Bateman explains " I have been in contact with the City Council over this alley for some time. It is one that gives residents problems from time to time. I have been progressing the case for over nearly a year now and the good news is that City officials have written to me informing me that they have decided to progress the completion of this matter urgently. The contractor who had already submitted the lowest quote to fit the gate to the main entrance, as required by the current minor works bid, has been instructed to supply and fit a gate to the pedestrian entrance at the same time.

Allowing for the time required to manufacture the gates he has undertaken to start work on the Ashmore Park Estate in early January 2006.

It is anticipated that all will be completed by the end of January, weather permitting.So that is the latest information that I have. I know that this Alleygate scheme will be well received by those residents that live closest to the offending alley.
