Community Fury As Schools Targeted

Residents on Ashmore Park are already making their views known about the continued burglary of schools on the estate. Here is what one resident has written to me saying.

"A new school year has just begun, and already schools on the estate are being broken into. I understand that a school on the estate has had projectors stolen ALREADY!!!. So we are barely into the new school year and the children are suffering already, this cannot be acceptable!!!

Over the holidays Danesmore Park have had additional security measures installed, and already there has been an attempt of break-in. This time it failed and the school/children survived :-)

Please please please is there anything that can be done?!?!?! or are we just to accept that our school equipment is not safe and our children’s education is not important and who cares if they the children’s education suffers.

There were a number of break-ins and projectors stolen from schools across the estate last school year, are we to have this regular occurrence start all over again, and say ''arh well we can't do anything about that''.

Not only is this bad for the children’s moral and education, but what a message this is sending. Break into a school and steal a projector, no problem they always get away with it anyway."

Councillor Bateman adds " I have written to the police about these incidents. It really cannot continue in the way that it is. Whilst we all look to the police for help and detection, I remain convinced that members of our own community may have valuable information about who is responsible for these thefts. I would appeal to anyone who has information to let the police know...or contact me and I will pass on any information."
