Community Centre Response

I asked the following question on my 'Discussion Page' about the Community Centre, Here are the responses. I have taken them off the'back page' so to speak and posted them on the front page!
Councillor Phil Bateman
Subject: Is A new Community Centre required for Wednesfield North? I think that a purpose built centre is long overdue, do you? Write here and let me know your views, and we will use them as part of any campaign.

Dear Mr Bateman, There was an official photograph of the opening of the first
C Centre taken by the E-S When our very own M P did the honours. We were very very happy that such a good thing was taking place.I am sure that we can have as much pleasure from a bigger centre, if not much more if we involve more people.
More power to your elbow and Thanks again. An Other.

I agree that a new community will be good for all. It is great news. I hope that when the move takes place there is a decommission plan for the current building. Once the move is complete and the old building is left empty who knows what trouble that will attract! I hope it is not just left empty and forgotten about to be vandalised and rot away.

Sh! We are a step nearer to having a wonderful Comm Centre.Don,t tell anyone or they will all want one.Years ago the people used to say,We,ll take the best and leave you the rest. Thanks to our Labour Councillors that may not apply anymore. We do need one now !!!. Thanks to Phil and Dave it looks more likely to happen sooner rather than later. OAP.

Dear Mr Bateman, I see things are moving towards Wednesfeild North Comm
Centre being replaced by a brick building ,a little bigger than the one we have now
for which we are extremely grateful. At the time we acquired it we had been waiting and asking for a long time.We didn,t ask for much ,just a place for getting together.
Good on ya mate.Keep it up.!Thanks from all of Ashmore Park. Watching OAP.

Dear Mr Bateman,Please may we have a meeting place where they don't serve beer.
Some of us don,t have to have a couple of pints before we can stand up and speak.Maybe we could have a room for one parent families to meet and share
the problems of trying to juggle with the children the shopping the bus the shortage of money and shortage of a Father figure for the children to learn from.I know some men have problems too and need to share them. An older one parent .

Dear Phil Bateman, Just count how many things we haven't got in Wednesfield North
No Cinema No Museum No way of telling people how Ashmore Park was when
Miners made a living here and worked in appalling conditions lots dying not far away
all coming into the area from over our borders. We may not be an old estate but
we do have some history.Just see if you can find it.!Find out about the Gent who
built his own canal in Essington to bring boats of coal to sell. Its all there to read.

Dear Sir,Can we not have somewhere to relax and chat play dominoes cards
or just sit and talk about what it was like when we were all young with children.
It seems to be getting further away from us.If you don't have a car you cant
have an opinion as to where you go to relax.Look at Wednesfeild, they seem to have it round the back of the shops.Walsall has a meeting point too you can even have a cooked meal. Wake up Ashmore Park move forward not backwards.

Dear Phil A huge Communities Centre for Ashmore Park is a must since we all cant
cram into one space meant for 35 bodies.Fire regulations don't permit it.We
have been asking for a social meeting place for over some 40 years or more.
We need more space for get together the people need somewhere to gather
besides pubs. Some of us are quite old enough to remember how many tries we
have had to find a place you can sit and have a cup of tea and relax.Freda.
