Ashmore Park targeted

Rubbish Action Zone to Help Clear Up Estate
Released: 7th June 2005
Wolverhampton residents are being given another chance to help clean up a city estate as part of the Council’s latest Rubbish Action Zone initiative.
Ashmore Park was targeted by clean-up crews on Saturday (June 4) and further areas of the estate will be given the same treatment next Saturday (June 11).

Wolverhampton City Council staff have been joined by volunteers to help tidy up the estate and improve the environment.

Residents were sent leaflets telling them about the clean-up and asking them to deposit any unwanted items for disposal by the RAZ team.

The involvement of the local community is vital to the success of RAZ initiatives, as the council needs people to come out and help and to keep the area clean and tidy after the event.

The streets cleared on Saturday were:

Peacock Avenue
Townson Road
Hodson Close
Downing Close
Newey Road
Parry Road
Woodside
Whiston Avenue
Ecclestone Road
Ryan Avenue
Southall Road
Gorse Road
Reynolds Walk
St Albans Close.
The streets to be cleared next Saturday include:

Kitchen Lane
Baylis Avenue
Raven Crescent
Stephens Close
Howard Road
Birch Road
Leveson Road
Phillips Avenue
Thornley Close
Nocke Road
Whitehouse Crescent
Parker Road
Anslow Gardens
Clare Avenue
Palmer Close.
The aim of the Rubbish Action Zone scheme is to bring communities together to help make their neighbourhood a tidier place.

Previous RAZs have tackled litter and fly-tipping problems in Park Village and Whitmore Reans.

Issued by Wolverhampton City Council, Press Office.
