Monday Blog

So you ask what did you do over the week-end.? Well like every other week end of late there is a horrendous back log of correspondence and telephone calls to deal with...and an exploding garden of new plants more weeds and more growing grass.

I hasten to add that I only looked at the garden made a mental note to deal with the worse excesses and did nothing about it!But I did catch up on a lot of telephone calls. These are from people looking for help and advice in the main. I sometimes feel a little guilty because of late I am finding it difficult to return calls same day. So apology is forthcoming to those that have had this delay from me!

Late on Friday night on my way home from visiting we came upon a bad smash on Linthouse Lane. It was not a pleasant sight. I know that there has been some pretty strong words spoken about speed on this lane. On Saturday morning I received e-mails from residents informing me of the incident. I am chasing City Officials about a speed up in their proposals for the road safety scheme here at this location.

On Saturday evening both Mary and myself attended the Lea Hall Bus Garage 50th Birthday Party for staff and former workers. This was held at the TWM stadium at Wheelers Lane in Kings Heath Birmingham. There were over 300 people attending and they had a marvellous spread laid in front t of them by the organisers. There was a lot of catching up to do and there was a really great atmosphere in the room. Both Mary and myself really enjoyed the night. The previous week they had an Open Day at the Garage which I attended and approx 2,500 people flooded through the doors.

On Sunday it was back to the paperwork and a some leafleting for Ken Purchase and his Labour campaign for MP. The General Election is getting nearer but with team of four my sister Eileen Mary and my sister in law Diane we pounded the streets of Ashmore Park putting ken's information into doors.

As always we got a really good reception and the weather held off until we had done all that was ear-marked.
