Councillor Phil Bateman "Well the advice I am receiving is that the French Market that visited over the Easter period was a whacking great hit with the citizens of the City.

I have had nothing but good comments about the visit of the French Market, indeed people are asking if they are going to return? Well I think the answer to that question will be very positive. I met the Leader of the Council Roger Lawrence over the Easter he like me had been down to see how the City were taking to our French traders. I do not think that I am giving anything away when I report that in our conversation the Leader was very enthusiastic about the goodwill that was clearly being shown.

The bread and cheese counters were particularly busy and we spoke to some of the other Wolverhampton traders who informed us that a lot of extra people were drawn to the market square by the novelty of the French traders. All in all I think that Wolverhampton will do all it can to attract them back to the City. We now have to look forward to the Hungarians visit at Christmas. Lets hope that this will also be very successful."
