Alleygates Townson Road

Councillor Phil Bateman said today " Residents in Townson Road have approached me asking for Alley Gates to be fitted to reduce the incidents of vandalism and rowdyism that breaks out in this very underused garage site.

Originally this site was according to residents be fitted with the gates. Now it appears that they are not...well not straight away anyway.

It appears that there is a legal right of way through the site.This has created a more confused position as the City Council is likely to have to get the law rescinded before the gates can be fitted to restrict access.

I have asked officers to progress this quickly but I know that this matter is not going to easy as the pace of the arrangements drawn up by Government legislates to give maximum time to take place for consultation. I know that this information will not be popular but it is a fact. This alley way issue will join others that I am already trying to address within the Ward. I will keep residents updated on these events."
