The weeks weblog

Saturday morning and the fact is that the last week has been quite varied in the amount of work and the different things that I have been involved in.

On Monday I attended a new dentist as my previous dentist John Worsley has left the former Wednesfield practice at Lichfield Road. I originally intended to stay with the new practice that had moved in there. But one chaotic visit plus appointments that they had made for me when the dentist was not available over the Christmas visit quickly led me to believe that this one was not for me!

So both myself and Mary have changed to the Blue Cross dental practice on Ashmore Park. It wasn't long after I got settled in the chair...before the dentist engaged me in a complaint not about my teeth but of course the City Council. There just isn't anywhere that is totally safe! I must admit to listening to her very closely indeed. I am a real coward when it comes to pain. My thinking is that she can deal me more pain than the City Council so I was all ears!

The point that was being made was that there is an issue with water leakage in these units and I have taken the matter up with the Housing department. In the evening I attended a meeting at the civic centre.

On Tuesday I met more people from Wolverhampton that had been fund raising. These were bus drivers from Wolverhampton Park Lane Garage and Guru Nanak Sastang Sikh Temple. They handed a cheque for £1,600 to the tsunami appeal.

On Wednesday in our glad rags we attended the Civic Hall to hear the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. You van read about that elsewhere on this site, so I will not dwell. The rest of the week was all about work and paper work. Though I did speak with Ed Doolan in the BBC Mail Box studios about my forth coming year as the Mayor and the role that I will have in the City of Wolverhampton. I shall be doing all that I can in promoting the City and using a strap line to get the message across. Ed was as always very impish about the role I will be undertaking.
