Ashmore Shops

Ashmore Park Shopping Parade is in need of attention.
Councillor Phil Bateman said "I have been in contact with Chief Officers about its condition and the requirements that are needed to bring it back into some kind of sensible state. The Parade looks very drab and is requiring a lick of paint and some general tender loving care.

The canopies are not only in a very poor state of repair they are very dodgy in so much as they are deteriating very quickly now.
Again it is an issue that I have raised with the Chief Officer and he is very much aware of my concerns. I know that there will be sighs but I remain keen on seeing the walking surface improved. I believe it is a constant hazard for my elderly constituents.

At my last meeting I raised the issue of some of the shops suffering from water leaks and the damage that was causing, never mind the loss of respect that some traders were exhibiting towards their landlord. I have since been informed that there is one unit
that is now considering legal action against the City Council to keep the water out.

I do not think that the City Council as Landlord can be happy about this state of affairs. I shall be raising the issue again and would be pleased to continue receiving the traders and customers of this shopping parades support. Finally the alley way between the Housing Office and the Pet Shop is again being used by people urinating in the short passageway. This cannot be allowed to continue. I hope that the City Council and the police can together take some action. I believe that this is very much a design flaw in the shops. But it cannot be allow to continue unchecked."
