Saturday Blog

Yesterday was a very busy day for me as I undertook Deputy Mayoral duties. In the morning I met with a visiting Hungarian delegation that were in Wolverhampton from Kobanya to discuss trade issues including the setting up of a Hungarian Christmas Fair in Wolverhampton next year.
We had discussions, exchanged civic mementos and I am sure that the contact will bring benefits to Wolverhampton.

In the Evening Mary and myself attended a concert put on by The Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra & Wolverhampton Youth Wind Orchestra at St Johns Church Wolverhampton.

It was a brilliant night and once again a real eye opener as the raw talent that was on display was awe inspiring. Both Conductors David Woodyer-Wolverhamprton Youth Wind Orchestra and Keith Sedgebeer Wolverhampton Youth Orchestra praised the dedication of the young people and their talent at the event.

Numerous certificates were handed out to the Youth Orchestra as a full house cheered them to the rafters!

Both Mary and I really enjoyed the music and carols and the enthusiasm that these young people showed. Especially at a time when many young people are in the news for the wrong reasons.

Music played by the Youth Wind Orchestra included Music for the Royal Fireworks by Handel, Variations of a Korean Folksong by John Barnes Chance.

Youth Orchestra the Light Cavalry by Franz Von Suppe & Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold.

Plus the Carols sung by all of us (badly!) I suggest! But a night to remember nevertheless.
