Midweek Blog!

Midweek Blog…Well Thursday was the day when I met with a former resident of Wednesfield now living at the Soroptomist International house on Tettenhall Road. At the last moment the Mayor Councillor Alan Hart who was to visit Caroline Broome who was 100 today had to cry off because he and the Mayoress were unwell with flu.
Mary and I as Deputy Mayoress and Deputy Mayor substituted for Councillor Hart at the last minute and what a diamond Caroline Broome was when we were introduced to her!

100 she may be but she was as bright as a button and what a sense of humour she had. I loved every minute we were with her and her family. She had received her card from Queen Elisabeth and we took her a bouquet of flowers and a card from this great City of Wolverhampton.

I know that she enjoyed our visit I only hoped it was enjoyed as much as I enjoyed being with this very bright chatty young lady of 100 years of age!

Late onto the afternoon and early evening we had a Civic Carol service at the Methodist Church in Darlington Street with the Rev Tony Kinch. The Mayor of Telford and his Mayoress was also in attendance along with Councillor Alan Hart the Mayor of Wolverhampton and the Mayoress who despite both looking very grey. Still attended the service. They are troopers!

Again the service was great well attended and the congregation then came back to the Civic Centre for a mince pie! All in all tonight Thursday has been very busy indeed.
