Broad Lane North Update

Just on a basis of keeping people informed about the two homes that are being built on Broad Lane North as you will see from the development the ground has now been made over for the start of construction.

The owners have been in touch with me again and they have a strong message to give. They are at the moment battling against some pretty tough ground conditions. The ground is very wet and boggy with some water seeping from breaches in the canal bank caused by tree roots. These issues have had to be addressed.

Mr Hayre the guy who has bought the site recently wrote to me stating
"Please advise the residents to judge us when the site is completed . Whilst human
nature introduces a degree of suspicion we are keen to do everything as outlined in the agreed plans. Any
deviation from this will only result in enforcement action being taken by the council officers and cost us
money to put right. They have to signoff the development before we occupy it so it is in our interests to work within the confines of what has been agreed. We have no hidden agendas and want to make the site as good as possible as it will be
the place of our future homes and a haven for our children to grown and enjoy."



Councillor Phil Bateman added "it seems that the fact that some Great Crested Newts had already set uphome on the site and are a protected species have had a massive impact on developments in terms of delay, Mr Hayre lost 8 months whilst the mitigation works were being undertaken in respects of the initial survey, and then he had to obtain a DEFRA license, the capture programme and now the excavation of a new pond on British Waterways land, adjacent to the bridge, has taken a good deal of time and money.
