Ashmore Park Visit

This week I have made some very early visits to establishments in the Ward. I had a quick visit to Danesmore Park School on Tuesday where I discussed some of the issues that were facing the school with the Head Teacher Mr Norman Snell.

Mr Snell informs me that one of the key concerns that the school has is the fact that it is tucked away in Russell Close right in the heart of Ashmore Park and visitors cannot find it easily. He has asked me to see if I can arrange for some sign posts to be made available 'to point the way' so to speak!

I was pleased to see a 'break-fast club' in operation and to note the building extension in class rooms. It is a school that I do have a soft spot for, probably because I attended it!

Problems do occur which include stone throwing at windows from time to time but it was good to see the school in positive and up beat mode.!

I also visited the Coppice Close Community Association where I was shown the computer suite and had explained to me the computer classes that are held there. If residents of Wednesfield want to learn about the use of computers and how you can benefit from them why not pop along or give the Community Centre a ring. They will be very pleased to help.

I have also agreed to present certificates to residents that have been taking Spanish lessons at the facility. Watch this space for further information on this. If you have a spare hour or so pop along to Coppice Close Community Association in Coppice Close Ashmore Park. I am sure you will be surprised at what they have, and what they can do for you! Earlier this year I had the privilege of taking the Local Government Minister along to the facility and the place was a buzz with youngsters from Corpus Christi School learning computer science. Take a look yourselves!"
