BMX Track News

Ashmore Park is one of the few venues in Wolverhampton with a BMX track. BMX was a very popular sport some time ago but it is being suggested that it is now making a come back.

At a recent public meeting on Ashmore Park, City Council officers explained that there had been some interest in refurbishing the BMX track. This would likely lead to more interest from kids who enjoy the sport.


Councillor Phil Bateman said “Refurbishing the BMX track is a great idea, there appears to be a real chance that competitions could once again be held on the Park. I understand that other agencies like the Groundwork Trust may just consider partnership involvement.

However the refurbishment is financed, if it happens it seems that youths here will get real benefit, and to me that has to be seen as good news for the Wednesfield area. I am sure that we would get great support from residents, schools, and youngsters themselves for this development.”
